RDC Deutschland group acquires two companies from the Captrain Deutschland group.

RDC expands its portfolio: Acquisition of Teutoburger Wald Eisenbahn and Farge-Vegesacker Eisenbahn will be completed on 31 October

The RDC Deutschland Group will take over the companies Teutoburger Wald Eisenbahn GmbH (TWE) and Farge-Vegesacker Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft mbH (FVE), previously part of Captrain Deutschland, on 1 November 2024. This will enhance the RDC Deutschland Group's infrastructure activities in northern Germany, making it one of the largest private owners and operators of railway infrastructure with a route length of around 100 km. "With this acquisition, we are expanding our service offerings and will actively shape the future of rail as a partner. We are particularly looking forward to being a reliable infrastructure operator for the Regio-S-Bahn in northern Bremen and successfully implementing the Harsewinkel-Gütersloh-Verl reactivation project with the local transport authority Nahverkehr Westfalen Lippe," says Dr. Markus Hunkel, Chief Executive Officer, RDC Deutschland.

The sale of the two companies by the Captrain Deutschland Group is part of the strategy of its parent company Rail Logistics Europe to focus on its core business of rail logistics. "Captrain Deutschland is part of the international Captrain Group, one of the leading companies in rail logistics in Europe. We have a long-standing and successful collaboration with TWE and FVE. However, the sale allows us to concentrate even more on our strategic core business, rail freight transport. With the RDC Deutschland Group, we have found a buyer who will continue both companies with their employees and strategically develop them further," says Henrik Würdemann, Managing Director of the Captrain Deutschland Group.

Henrik Wilkening remains Managing Director of TWE and FVE

"The takeover of the 20-member team led by Henrik Wilkening is not only an investment in the company but also in the people who significantly contribute to its success. Their knowledge, experience, and passion are key to a successful integration and sustainable growth," says Ute Oldenburg, Managing Director of RDC Infrastruktur GmbH. The companies will be integrated into the group under the umbrella brand "RDC – Zugkraft, die verbindet" (RDC – Connecting Power).

Maintenance in own workshops

With the acquisition, three workshop halls will now belong to the RDC Deutschland Group. The Norddeutsche Eisenbahn Niebüll offers internal and external services for rail and utility vehicles on approximately 15,000 square meters of land. In Austria, the team for maintenance, revisions, renewal, and conversion of rail vehicles is available through Vienna Railway Maintenance Support GmbH. The recently inactive workshop in Lengerich provides further growth potential and strengthens the region.

RDC stands for Railroad Development Corporation. The company name literally reflects its mission. As a railway development company, RDC shapes everything related to rail as an industry partner and specialist for the best connections, all on an international scale. Whether as an infrastructure operator, workshop partner, provider in local passenger and freight transport, or offering services for AutoReise and international night trains – around 320 trained professionals and experts are working for RDC Deutschland to ensure sustainable mobility for the future.
