History | The line was opened in the 19th century and was once an important transport route for goods and passengers between Bremen and the Weser. At that time, passenger trains operated with second and third class, transporting passengers for 50 pfennigs in third class and 70 pfennigs in second class along the entire route, Vegesack <-> Farge, with five stops. With the onset of public transport at the end of the 1940s, passenger numbers in local rail transport plummeted, leading to the cessation of services in 1961. About 50 years later, the reactivation of the line was decided. The line was reopened for local rail transport on 9 December 2007, coinciding with the winter timetable. Since 2011, the 10.4 km long line has been fully electrified, and the Farge-Vegesacker Eisenbahn acts as the infrastructure operator. |
